On March 24th 2010 the 65th Dwars Door Vlaanderen (Tour Across Flanders) will be held and it's sure to be another great classic. If it's anything like Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne two weeks ago, it'll be a freezing, rain soaked suffer-fest! There are 12 short, steep climbs with grades upwards of 18%, OUCH. It starts in Roeselare and finnishes in Waregem and the teams entered are as follows;

Pro Tour teams: Omega Pharma-Lotto, Quick Step, Francaise des Jeux, AG2R, Saxo Bank, Rabobank, HTC-Columbia, RadioShack, Milram, Katusha, Sky and Footon-Servetto

Professional Continental teams: Landbouwkrediet, Topsport Vlaanderen, Cervelo, Skil-Shimano, Vacansoleil, Cofidis, Bbox Bouygues Telecom, Acqua & Sapone, and Xacobeo-Galicia

Continental teams: An Post-Sean Kelly, Palmans-Cras, Verandas Willems

Seeberg Ride #2 S. Turkey Creek. - Parmalee Gulch - Morrison

Beautiful last couple of days, on the bike Tuesday, rock climbing yesterday, and today was a glorious ride! A bit breezy but the temp was perfect, started slow but really put the hammer down about 15 miles into it. I busted it out in about 2:45, purdy good for 3,400 vert, the legs feel great, just getting my neck readjusted to summer mileage. Starting to see buds on the trees but no real green to speak of, and lots of sand on the roads, as usual for this time of year. Big storm moving in tonight, back to winter tomorrow with 3 to 12 inches depending on who you talk to. With the days getting longer the snow won't last long though, and how about that daylight savings, life has begun again and the season of fantastic late afternoon rides is upon us.

Hello everyone and happy spring!
Just over a week until daylight savings starts, and I'm chomppin at the bit. I'm going to start posting my rides for fun and see what happens, feel free to chime in. Today's route was pretty mellow and the weather was great, sunny and a bit cool. Coming back on the C-470 Bike Way was a bit tricky due to several inches of water over ice buldges that I found in the two tunnels. All in all a fantastic day and my legs responded pretty well to the climbs considering the time of year.Ken Caryle - S. Turkey Creek

Hello everyone

Could say I'm just waking up from a winter slumber but the weather has been so awesome that hibernation hasn't been necessary. Once again Colorado's incredible winter sunshine has provided amazing cycling conditions for all to enjoy, we're just about over the hump and it's time to start gearing up for another summer in paradise!

Speaking of spring fever, Wheat Ridge Cyclery is about to host their annual event "Women's Night Out". That's right guys, this one's just for the ladies, so if you're a "girl biker" come on down to the shop and join your fellow female cycling comrades and talk to lots of industry reps, tech gurus, and kindred souls. I'll be there signing books and would love to chat and answer any questions you may have for me. There will be lots of food ,beer, fish stories, and fun for all!

On the 26th I'll be showing slides at the Naturita Elementary School library at 2pm, 3:30pm, and 5pm. Cycling Mt. Evans, photos to psych your soul and temper your ego

Hi Fred,

Great to hear from you, the 25th sounds fine, pray for good weather! May I suggest that we ride it from Bergen Park, up over Squaw Pass, then a partial descent to Echo Lake (the halfway point on Mt. Evans). This route is a bit longer (four miles) and a bit harder, but has some varied terrain to break up the tempo a touch. The Squaw Pass road (CO Hwy. 103) dumps you out at the toll booth for the Mt. Evans Highway (CO Hwy 5), This is a local's approach to Evans and avoids a lot of traffic. Check out Mt. Evans at http://www.googleearth.com/ and type "Bergen Park, CO" in the search box. If you don't have Google Earth it's well worth the down load, if you already have it make sure you have the latest version, it's way better. The images of Evans on Google Earth are with snow on the summit but you can still see the whole road. Another cool resource is http://www.bicyclerace.com/ where you'll find the official site for the Bob Cook Memorial Mt. Evans Hill Climb. It's really cool with course info, photos, and history of the race.

Hello there, glad to see you've found my site. Maybe you're here looking for my cycling guide, or maybe you already own a copy and have come to see what I've got going on, perhaps you've stumbled upon me while surfing. If road cycling interests you read further and let me know what you think. I started this blog in hopes of providing a way to communicate with my readers and other fellow cyclists. My book, "Road Biking Colorado-The Statewide Guide" has been out for a few years now and has enjoyed rave reviews, I would love to hear your thoughts. Another objective I have for this blog is to provide updated information regarding any subject matter relevant to my guidebook and Colorado road cycling in general. For example; there are a few roads in the state that were not paved when I was documenting for my book, that have since been paved, and some major construction projects that have been finished or started as well.
